After concluding his medical studies in the Aristoteles university of Thessaloniki in 2004, Dr. Papaioannou began with his practical year in general surgery at the Sismanogleio hospital of Komotini. In 2005 he began working in Germany as a resident in general surgery and traumatology for two years, after which he began his training in plastic surgery. From 2007 to 2012 Dr. Papaioannou worked as a resident in plastic surgery in the clinics of Hamburg, Magdeburg and Braunschweig. In 2012 he became a board certified plastic surgeon in Germany. 

Since 2012 Dr. Papaioannou worked as a senior consultant in the department of plastic surgery of the Klinikum Braunschweig with subspecialty in aesthetic and breast surgery. In 2013 he began working in a joint practice with Dr. Kostas Papaioannou, plastic surgeon in Thessaloniki Greece.
